REALTORS® throughout Greater Vancouver enthusiastically embraced the charitable spirit in 2007. In a profession known for its generosity, the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver’s six geographical divisions lead the way in helping those less fortunate in their own neighbourhoods.

Collectively the respective divisions raised $64, 233.35 in monetary donations in 2007, organized the serving of over 500 Thanksgiving meals to the homeless and helped provide calculators for every 4th grade student at Admiral Seymour Elementary in Vancouver East.

“Our divisions are absolutely passionate about the charities they support.  These overall figures serve to demonstrate the commitment REALTORS® have to improving the quality of life in their own neighbourhoods,” says REBGV president Brian Naphtali.

Please join us in thanking the divisions for their extraordinary fund raising efforts in 2007. The funds raised include:
 
Burnaby/New Westminster/Tri Cities: Raised over $3,000, which was matched by TD Canada Trust. An additional $8,200 was raised for the Children’s Wish Foundation at the summer golf tournament.

Maple Ridge/Pitt Meadows Division: This division raised over $2,900 at their Christmas party, in addition to the $3,850 brought in at their annual golf tournament. The proceeds went to the Meadows Youth & Justice Advocacy Association.  The Vista Hospice Society was also provided with a cheque for  $300. They also provided all supplies and manpower to make 500 turkey dinners with all the trimmings at the 12th annual Thanksgiving dinner for homeless and housebound.

Richmond/South Delta/ Gulf Islands:   

Richmond: Richmond REALTORS® raised $8,490 at their Christmas party for the Richmond Carefree Society. They also raised $2,900 at their golf tournament for the Richmond Carefree Society and Delta Assist.

South Delta: Raised $7,966 at their Christmas party for the Gateway Autism Foundation and the Delta Boys and Girls Club.

The Westside Division: Raised $6,863.02 through a silent auction and generous donations at their Christmas party to support BC Children’s Hospital REALTORS® Care Endowment Fund for Genetics & Oncology.

The North Shore/Sunshine Coast/Sea-to-Sky Division: Raised $2,557.46, which went to support the Lions Gate Hospital Foundation. 

Vancouver East Division: Raised $1,353 for Admiral Seymour Elementary School.

Board-wide

  • Sales from Teldon Calendars raised $8,800 for Covenant House Vancouver.
  • 2007 REBGV Charity Golf Classic: raised $7,053.87 for Zero Ceiling Society, a program developed to inspire young people to make healthier lifestyle choices.
  • The REALTORS® Care Blanket Drive gathered 4,200 bags of blankets, sleeping bags and clothing.
