Emotions run high for award recipients
Two REALTORS® received standing ovations, at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver on March 14, in recognition of their work to promote awareness of two community causes.
Ada Cheung and Kerry Dennehy were recipients of REALTORS® Care Awards during the annual President’s Banquet hosted by the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver (REBGV).
Dennehy, of Sotheby’s International Realty, helped raise $2.44 million dollars for teen depression education, research and treatment. Dennehy is determined to make society aware of how far-reaching teen depression is and the tremendous impact it has. After the death of his 17 year-old son seven years ago, Kerry created the Kelty Patrick Dennehy Foundation.
A kidney transplant recipient, Cheung, of Sutton Group – West Coast Realty, helps other kidney patients regain their lives. As president of the Chinese Renal Association in 2007, she ran a year-long campaign to have Chinese youth sign organ donor cards.
“The REALTORS® Care Awards recognise REALTORS® who have made significant contributions to their communities,” said Dave Watt, REBGV president. “Ada and Kerry embody the selflessness and caring that this award is about.”
The REALTORS® Care Award is presented annually to members of the Real Estate Board who work and advocate for their communities through fundraising or volunteer activities. Each year, members donate time, enthusiasm and money to volunteer causes.
The Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver is an association representing more than 9,500 REALTORS®. The Real Estate Board provides a variety of membership services, including the Multiple Listing Service®.
