Award recipients blend fun into community service
VANCOUVER, B.C. - Two REALTORS® were recognized for infusing cheer and energy into their respective fundraising and community service efforts in 2008 at the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver on March 26.
Arnold Shuchat and Justin Wyllie were each recipients of 2008 REALTORS® Care Awards during the Real Estate Board of Greater Vancouver’s (REBGV) annual President’s Banquet.
In 2008, Shuchat, of Multiple Realty Ltd. in Richmond, helped raise $40,000 for the Richmond Jewish Day School and the Louis Brier Foundation for the Aged by organizing a hugely successful ‘Battle of the Bands’ fundraiser. His belief that the young and the old rely on the support of each other drove him to unite these two organizations for this event. The lively fundraiser was such a hit that it has become an annual event.
Wyllie, of RE/MAX Sabre Realty Group in Port Coquitlam, led the Tri-Cities Operation Red Nose program to great success. His enthusiasm attracted a record number of volunteers to the program and provided 258 party-goers with a safe ride home last holiday season. Through his tireless efforts, the program was able to more than triple its donation to Kidsport, an organization which helps to give underprivileged kids the opportunity to enrol in community sports programs.
“Arnold and Justin have made significant contributions to their communities and their hard work embodies what the REALTORS® Care Awards are all about,” said Scott Russell, REBGV president.
The REALTORS® Care Award is presented annually to members of the REBGV who work and advocate for their communities through fundraising or volunteer activities. Each year, members donate time, enthusiasm and money to numerous charitable and volunteer causes.
